Meet Jerry Burns
With 15 years of law enforcement experience and a passion for public service, I am running for Blount County Sheriff to make a real difference in our community. My career has been dedicated to serving and protecting others, and I believe that strong leadership, proactive policies, and community engagement are key to making Blount County safer for everyone.
In addition to my law enforcement service, I own a martial arts business where I train officers, adults, and children in defensive tactics and self-defense. This reinforces my belief in leadership, discipline, and equipping people with the tools they need to succeed.
Now, I want to bring that same dedication and passion to the role of sheriff.
My Priorities for Blount County
Public Safety & Crime Prevention
Keeping Blount County safe is my top priority. I will implement proactive policing strategies, strengthen community relationships, and ensure our deputies have the resources they need to prevent crime before it happens.
Strengthening Deputy Training, Recruitment & Retention
Our deputies deserve the best training and support possible. I will work to implement modern training programs, improve recruitment efforts, and develop review policies that impact retention to ensure we attract and keep the best officers serving our county.
Addressing the Drug & Mental Health Crisis
Blount County is facing growing challenges with substance abuse and mental health issues. I will work with community partners to provide a balanced approach that focuses on treatment, prevention, and enforcement to get people the help they need while keeping our streets safe.
